hello right now I have openfire 4.0.2 server and my users are disconnected randomly, is that the problem could be the amount of java memory that is allocated to the application but can not find the file modification as in previous versions, if someone could help me, thanks in advance

Openfire configuration

Hi,

Is it possible to have all the openfire configuration written in the "openfire.xml" so that it is easy to reinstall ? All I can see in the openfire.xml is the DB configuration. I don't see the LDAP configuration in the XML file.

Search Filters not working to limit users to an AD group

$

Installed 4.0.2, integrated with AD, but groupSearchFilter and searchFilter are not working, as I'm seeing all groups and all users

baseDN is root of AD

have group in "Users" container called "MessagingUsers" with 86 members

in console, I see ALL groups and ALL users from my entire AD - approximately 900 items.

Here is the text from my openfire.xml file pertaining to searching AD:

<groupSearchFilter><![CDATA[(&(objectClass=group)(CN=MessagingUser,CN=Users,DC=x xxxxxxxxxxx,DC=xxxxx)(member=))]]></groupSearchFilter>

<searchFilter><![CDATA[(&(objectClass=organizationalPerson)(memberOf=CN=Messagin gUser,CN=Users,DC=xxxxxxxxxxxx,DC=xxxxx)(sAMAccountName=))]]></searchFilter>

baseDN is "DC=xxxxxxxxxxxx,DC=xxxxx"  (redacted)

Everything else seems to be working fine. What am I missing?

To clarify, I'm trying to limit users to an AD group called "MessagingUser", but my settings are not limiting anything. All users and all groups are showing in the Users/Groups window, and test users that are not in the MessagingUser group are still able to log in. I need to ensure that only members of that group can log in.

I could really use some help here!

Thanks

Configure Openfire without opening admin console

Hi,

I want to configure Openfire without opening the admin console. I tried different approaches e.g. configuring openfire.xml with required options and adding <setup>true</setup>. I have also given it a try by adding the required fields in backend database (Microsoft SQL server). The main problem I am facing right now is that users are not able to get logged in to the server once the server gets restarted. I try to login with spark and it says "Invalid username or password". Worth mentioning here is that every thing works perfectly fine if I do manual configurations.

SSO with Openfire 4.0.2 on ubuntu 14.04 and AD 2008R2

Hi to all.

I followed some guide on this forum, but i can't get SSO working with the following configuration:

* Openfire 4.0.2 on ubuntu 14.04 with JDK 1.8.0_77

* Active Directory on a Win2008R2 server with 2008 compatibility

* Miranda Client on a Win10 64bit

I started with this

Openfire: Enable Single Sign On (SSO) on Linux - Spiceworks

and readed on and on througout this forum.

Those are my configuration files:

# cat /etc/krb5.conf

[libdefaults]       default_realm = TSDN.AD       dsn_lookup_realm = true       dns_lookup_kdc = true       rdns = false

[logging]        default = FILE:/var/log/krb5libs.log        kdc = FILE:/var/log/krb5kdc.log        admin_server = FILE:/var/log/kadmind.log

[appdefaults]        pam = {    debug = true    ticket_lifetime = 36000    renew_lifetime = 36000    forwardable = true    krb4_convert = false    validate = true
}

# cat /etc/samba/smb.conf

[global]
workgroup = TSDN
security = ads
realm = TSDN.AD
kerberos method = secrets and keytab
password server = win2k8.tsdn.ad

# cat /etc/openfire/gss.conf

com.sun.security.jgss.accept {
com.sun.security.auth.module.Krb5LoginModule
required
storeKey=true
keyTab="/etc/openfire/krb5.xmpp.keytab"
doNotPrompt=true
useKeyTab=true
realm="TSDN.AD"
principal="xmpp/vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad@TSDN.AD"
debug=true
isInitiator=false;
};

Content of /etc/openfire/krb5.xmpp.keytab

ktutil:  rkt /etc/openfire/krb5.xmpp.keytab
ktutil:  l
slot KVNO Principal
---- ---- ---------------------------------------------------------------------   1    3          xmpp/vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad@TSDN.AD   2    3          xmpp/vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad@TSDN.AD   3    3          xmpp/vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad@TSDN.AD   4    3          xmpp/vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad@TSDN.AD   5    3          xmpp/vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad@TSDN.AD

On Active Directory Server :

C:\>setspn -l tsdnservices
Registered ServicePrincipalNames for CN=TSDN Services,CN=Users,DC=tsdn,DC=ad:       xmpp/vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad

If i try to login with username and password from a linux desktop (using pidgin) there's no problem.

Then i try with Miranda, the client I use in my office, on a Win10 machine.

If I try to connect with username and password, no problem.
Then I configured it with :

Use Domain Login: checked
Domain / Server: vm-gestsdn.tsdn.ad

And it doesn't work.

I can see in XML Console that miranda try GSSAPI auth:

<auth mechanism="GSSAPI">SOME VERY LONG STRING</auth>

but the server respond with a <not-authorized />

This is the log on the server:

2016.04.14 17:15:46 INFO [socket_c2s-thread-2]: org.jivesoftware.openfire.net.SASLAuthentication - User Login Failed. Failure to initialize security context

Where i have to break my head to try to solve this problem?

I think it's Kerberos that doesn't work, but how can i proceed?

Thanks a lot to everyone!

This server does not support group chats

Hi

I'm hoping someone will be able to help with an issue I'm currently experiencing with group chats using Openfire and Jabber on Mac clients.

Please bear with me as I've had to pick this up from a colleague who originally configured our chat setup so learning as I go!

So I had to rebuild our setup in Openfire and most functions are working well. Users authenticate through AD and can chat to individuals with no problems. They can also see and join a server created Chat Room. The issue is that when someone starts a new chat, adds more than one buddy in, types a message and hits send, a message is shown stating 'This server does not support group chats'.

Everything looks fine to me on the admin console. I'm scratching my head as to where to look next!

Ad-hoc group chats were working before I did the rebuild.

Any help would be much appreciated.

For info, am running Openfire 4.0.1 on a Windows 2008 R2 server.

Thanks all.

Alive session temporarily kicked off or receiving offline messages while being online

Not sure if this is an Openfire issue, but i can't think how this can be a Spark issue (still probable). Recently i started seeing a strange issue. I lock my PC and go away for a few minutes (my PC is set to not go to sleep even). During that time someone sends me a message. Then i unlock my PC (Win 7 x86) and i see how a new tab appears in my Spark chat window and if i go there is says "xx:xx User (Offline) message". It's like i was offline when it was sent and now i went online and it was sent to me by the server. But i wasn't offline. I can understand that, if my PC would be in sleep during that time, network down and Spark offline, but that just can't happen. Looks like Openfire is sometimes treating my Away status as being too much idle and closing my session, but when i unlock my PC and Spark sets the status back to Online it then restores my session..

Weird. Could be something strange going on with the latest Spark build, but i can't imagine what. Spark thinking it's offline when the PC is locked (Away status automatically kicks in). Maybe that's a side effect of the recent changes to idle code. speedy seeing anything similar? Although it happens like a few times in a week. Not easily reproducible.

Hello my name is Alberto i need your knowledge and support with my problem.

I need see all groups and all user in openfire, the problem is that i can not see groups but i can see all users in domain.

I need see all groups and people, i use client Spark for Windows and Linux.

The server is installed in debian 8 and OpenFire 4.0.2

I need to know how to configure in openfire and client spark to see all groups and users

in domain.

This is my domain

Thanks in advance and sorry but my bad english.

Spark clients constantly reconnecting. Why?

I am running newest version of Openfire on Linux Mint 17. I have the server configured to use AD via LDAP and have tested connections. I can perform a constant ping to the server from clients and there is no latency (connection avg <2ms), no dropped packets. Yet the Spark clients cannot sustain a connection to include even doing a search.

Anyone have thoughts?

Setting up groups on the server

How now do so:

There are 3 groups of users:

1 - manual.

2 - 1 users

3 - 2 users.

You must configure:

1. User Group 1 (manual) should see the rest of the group (1,2,3) and send them messages.

2. User Group 2 (ordinary workers 1 office) should only see a group of management and not one more, even members of their own group.

3. User Group 3 (ordinary workers 2 offices) should only see a group of management and not one more, even members of their own group.

(This setting is on ejabberd is very easy)

I am running into every problem listed in these forums.

New Ubuntu install, followed the instructions for a .deb install.

Set everything up, but Spark would continuously say there was a server error.

Rebooted the server and now I cannot log in, I am using LDAP and one of the AD users as the admin.

Edited the openfire.xml and added an account and it wanted to go through the setup process again, now it states the Openfire datavase schema does not appear to be installed. Funny, it didn't say anything the first time I ran though this.

I am almost believing that this is just a lost cause and the system is just riddled with bugs and inconsistent install instructions. Every fix in these forums seems to just break the system even more.

If anyone has a defenitive guide published within the last year on how to get this running on Ubuntu, using LDAP and the Spark client, I am all ears.

I setup one of these servers about 7 years ago and don't remember it being such a headache to get running.

UPDATE: Was able to get past the database part by making sure I am using the same domain name I set it up with originally. Now it cannot find anything by hostname, so I changed it to the IP of the domain controller. Now it says I am using the wrong password for the domain users I assigned as admin. Nothing but headaches with this software.

UPDATE 2: I just want to blow my brains out. Rebooted the server and it wants to go through the setup process again.

FINAL UPDATE: Come to find out v4.0.2 doesn't work out of the box, I am told it only works with Java 8, which I tried and it still failed. Once I installed 4.0.1 all my issue went away. Funny thing is, if you create a brand new server, install Java 8, OpenFire will not install, unless you install Java 7, so why make a product that only works with one version of Java, but demand a prior version?

Connexion problem on new install

Hi,

Just install new virtual machine on debian 8.4, and openjdk-7-jre package + openfire_4.0.2_all.deb.

I start with a very simple configuration (internal database, internal users).

But when I connect with my client (try on 2 differents computers, using spark and pidgin), it disconnect/reconnect indefinitely.

how to optimize performance for openfire 4.0.1

Hi,

Is there any idea to optimize performance for openfire 4.0.1?

I've got 800+ users, and 50+ groups shared for all users in the Roster.

Every morning when 300+ offline users log on, some user cannot log on before they tried several times.

I'v changed ulimit -n to 65535 on the Openfire server,

and add “ -Djava.nio.channels.spi.SelectorProvider=sun.nio.ch.EPollSelectorProvider” to OPENFIRE_OPTS in /etc/init.d/openfire.

also changed sysctl: net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024 65000

It seems useless.

This is some info:

Openfire:4.0.1

OS: RHEL6 x86_64

Java:1.8.0_45 Oracle Corporation -- Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM

Java Memory: 1127.00 MB of 54613.50 MB (2.1%) used

Thanks a lot!

I'm testing the service "http_bind" of "openfire".

In 7443 the port works fine but when I try to change the port to 443 openfire, my ssl certificate that port listening, listening http_bind disables me.

Can anybody help me? I reviewed earlier conversations but can not find the solution.

Thank you

Good afternoon!

In the organization of the client Spark 2.7.6 installed. the client is in functionality and appearance is a convenient solution for the organization of internal chat. But in the absence of one of the functions of the server, which will be discussed more organized, we have to use the server part of "Ejabberd Community Server 16.03". In the process of the server and the client work together we revealed small errors, which arises as a result of one of the conclusions:

1. Change the server part

2. Change the client part

Change klienskij part oen not want to, because workers are used to.

So my question is:

Who can I contact for the development of a new plugin or function as base solutions using already developed features and plug-ins do not have?

What is the work function or plug-in:

1. User Group 1 (manual) should see the rest of the group (1,2,3) and send them messages.

2. User Group 2 (ordinary workers 1 office) should only see a group of management and not one more, even members of their own group.
